How to Operate HVAC Controls in Your RV Through the In-Command System

Operating Your RV's HVAC Controls with the In-Command System

Managing your RV’s HVAC system through the In-Command DC panel or the mobile app allows you to customize and control the temperature in each zone of your RV. Follow these steps to efficiently operate and customize each zone for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation.

1. Accessing HVAC Controls

From the main screen of the In-Command DC panel or app:

  • Select the HVAC icon.
  • Each AC unit is assigned a zone, which you can control from either the DC panel or app.

Note: Only features available in a given zone will be displayed on the screen. Each zone shows both the desired temperature under “Set” and the current ambient temperature under “Zone.”

2. Setting Up Each Zone

  1. Choose a Zone: Use the arrows to select the zone you wish to control.
  2. Air Circulation (Fan Only Mode):Press Mode to switch to fan-only mode. Select the Fan icon to choose your desired fan speed. The fan will continue to run until turned off.

3. Vent Fans (if equipped)

  • Power vent fans can be opened, closed, and adjusted in speed from the DC panel or app.
  • Press Vent to open or close the fan, then set the fan speed as desired.

4. Setting Desired Temperatures

  1. Cooling Mode: Press Mode to switch to “Cool.” Use the up/down arrows on the DC or slide bar on the app to set the desired temperature. Choose a fan speed by pressing the Fan icon.

Important: If the power vent fan is open, it will automatically close when the AC in that zone is activated.

  1. Heating Mode: Each RV is equipped with a propane gas furnace. The Gas Heat icon will appear in the zone it is installed, although it heats the entire RV. Press Mode to switch to “Heat,” set the desired temperature, and choose a fan speed.
  2. Electric Heat Options (if equipped):Heat strips or heat pumps are installed in the roof AC shroud. Switch the heat source from Gas to Electric by pressing the Source icon to display “Electric.” Note that the AC fan is required to operate when using electric heat.

5. Auto Mode: Automatic Temperature Management

  • Auto mode allows the system to switch between heating and cooling to maintain the set temperature.
  • If a zone only has AC (no heat), auto mode will not be available.
  • To use Auto: Select a zone supporting both AC and heat. Press Mode and select “Auto.” Choose your heat source and set the desired temperature and fan speed.

Tip: In zones supporting both gas and electric heat, electric heat will run first. If the desired temperature isn’t reached within 30-60 minutes, gas heat will activate automatically.
