How to Replace Drawer Guides in Your RV: Step-by-Step Maintenance Guide

Over time, drawer guides can wear out from regular use, or they may become damaged from an accident, leading to drawers that don’t open or close properly. Replacing your drawer guides is a straightforward solution to keep your RV’s interior storage fully functional.

Tools Required:
- Screw gun with #2 square bit
- New drawer guide
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Locate the Screws
- Identify and note the location of all screws that secure the drawer guides.
2. Remove the Drawer
- Pull the drawer out until it stops.
- Locate the release tab on both guides.
- Press the release tab to detach the drawer completely, leaving the outer portion of the guide attached to the cabinet.
3. Mark the Guide Position
- Use a pencil to draw a line under the bottom of both guide sections. These lines will serve as a reference for positioning the new guides.
4. Remove the Old Guides
- Unscrew both the inner and outer guides from their respective locations.
- Separate the new inner guide from the new outer guide by pulling them apart while pressing the release tab.
5. Install the New Outer Guide
- Attach the new outer guide to the cabinet using the same screws you removed earlier.
- Ensure that the guides align with the pencil lines you marked earlier.
6. Install the New Inner Guide
- Attach the new inner guide to the drawer, again using the same screws you previously removed.
- Make sure to align the new guide with the pencil marks.
7. Reinstall the Drawer
- Line up the inner and outer guides and carefully reinstall the drawer.
- Push the drawer to its stopping point and press the release tabs to allow the drawer to slide all the way into its fully installed position.
8. Test the Installation
- Pull the drawer out to its stopping point and ensure that the drawer guides are functioning correctly.
